Christmas Green Gifts Update

As I mentioned awhile back (here and here), I decided to give some ‘green’ gifts to certain people this Christmas (2006) in an effort to nudge them in the right direction.
Originally I was planning to order some interesting eco-gifts online, but in the end I decided to put together something of a green stocking, consisting of environmentally-themed gifts I could get locally.
Each ’stocking’ consisted of a cloth shopping bag containing 1) An Inconvenient Truth (DVD) 2) Some Method cleaning products 3) Terracycle worm poop liquid fertilizer 4) Some CFL bulbs and 5) Some organic wine.
I’m happy to report that the stockings were very well received - one person in particular was blown away and very excited to receive all the eco-goodies.
It was interesting to learn that some people were a little further ahead than I realized. My brother for example explained that he has many CFLs throughout his home already (but was very happy to get some new ones), which puts him ahead of me in that regard. I was also caught off guard when my sister-in-law informed me that she had spent some time reading this blog and was quite impressed.
All in all I’m really happy I decided to test out the green gift idea this year, and rest assured there will be many more green gifts given to friends and family this year!
