Green Headlines - Feb. 7th, 2007

Well, we are back with our second installment of ‘EcoSherpa Green News’ (which almost didn’t happen today due to goof on my part - long story).
It’s important to mention that we have decided to change things up a little bit already after chatting a little more about it.
While we do want to offer you links to other stories, we definitely don’t want to drown out our own stories, so it’s important we keep our news posts as compact as possible. As such, we are tossing the ‘blurb’ idea (ie we’ll just have headline links) and instead will try to a little bit of preliminary commentary to help provide some background on the articles we are featuring.
Ok, well our first two stories discuss the important role that consumers play in the green movement. Joel Makower’s article (#2) is particularly interesting, pondering the question of why American consumers - while clearly concerned about the environment - just aren’t really doing much about it when it comes to their buying habits.
On the technology front, I came across an interesting article discussing the potential eco-dilemma when it comes to technologically advanced ‘digital’ homes of the future - will they be environmental killers, or eco-wonders? That remains to be seen.
The last four stories are alternative energy related- A hotel powered by fuel cells; Interesting WordChanging interview with a Japanese solar cell researcher; Impressive growth reported in the wind energy market for 2006; and ‘The Future of Things’ writes about a cheaper (than photovoltaic) alternative for solar power - the Heliotube Solar Concentrator.
