Green Headlines - Feb. 16, 2007
Some headlines from this week that caught my eye…
1) Solar technology producer, International Automated Systems inc (IAUS), have announced that their unique thin film ’solar lens’ systems can be produced at a fraction of the cost of today’s PV technology; 2) The Guardian reports on a recent fuel cell research breakthrough - platinum-nickel crystal catalysts shown to be 90 times more effective than the traditional platinum-carbon; 3) GM claims Chevy Sequel fuel cell vehicle will be available for purchase by 2010; 4) Yet another interesting article from WordChanging - LA’s mayor wants to transform his city into the greenest metropolis in America!; 5) The New York Times article discussing a report prepared by Electric Power Research Institute - claims that emissions from US electric power companies CAN be reduced to pre-1990 levels, but it will take at least 20 years to do so.; 6) Finally, I just couldn’t resist adding this headline, since it made me laugh out loud when I read it - Gee, I can’t possibly imagine why Exxon would caution people not to jump on the emissions-reduction bandwagon!! (wink wink)
