EcoContribution – Take Action and Sign Their Petition

I just finished my nightly Internet surfing when I came across the EcoContribution website. If you haven’t been to the website before, go take a look and help their cause.
EcoContribution is a grassroots website dedicated to environmental protection. They strive to bring it about by combining information campaigns and political action.
You can help their campaigns by signing a petition asking government to act on issues that they feel can make a great difference. People are invited to take action at different levels; at home, by informing the people around them or by getting involved with them.
One of their current campaigns is, All Shrimp are not equal.
All Shrimp are not equal is a campaign to inform people of the harmful effects of warmwater shrimp fishing. Warmwater shrimp represents only 2% of the world’s fish catch. Yet it is responsible for one third of the bycatch, with a rate of 10 to 1; for every pound of tropical shrimp, 10 pounds of bycatch must die.
On the contrary, Coldwater shrimp fishing in Canada is one of the most environmentally-friendly practices in the world. The purpose of this campaign is to inform consumers of the difference between coldwater and warmwater shrimp and the actions you can take to help stop this environmental carnage. By the same token, you will be encouraging the Canadian Shrimp Fishery. To learn more about this campaign, visit Ecocontribution.
